SUN OVEN
The SUN OVEN will cook a whole chicken until the meat is falling off the bone in four or five hours using only sunlight for power. No electricity, gas, wood, coal, camel dung or anything else is burned to heat the oven. Nothing but Sunlight. The Sun Oven reaches 300-350 degrees on a sunny day. It will easily boil water. It is much like a cordless crock pot.
We began using a solar oven made by Sun Oven several years ago. If the sun is shining, our complete meal can cook outside, no electricity, and without heating up the house, which we dread during the summer months. Some pictures and a sample recipe can be found on the Sunshine Works website.
Food is prepared as if for an oven or stove top. However, because food cooks faster when it is in smaller pieces, food placed inside a solar cooker is usually cut into smaller pieces than it might otherwise be.
